Millertown is a scenic community located in the interior of the island of Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. Millertown is nestled on the north east side of Red Indian Lake. It boasts the Gaff Topsail Plateau to the North, dense boreal forest to the south and one of the great Canadian rivers, Exploits River to the east. Lewis Miller came to central Newfoundland in 1899 and founded Millertown in 1900. He had a keen interest in using the local timber surrounding Red Indian Lake for a sawmill. By and by Miller left and eventually the town was used as a place for people working in the logging industry to start families and work close to home.
